Siyakhuluma Seminars
This is a joint initiative by Ditsela, Friedrich Ebhert Stiftung(FES), The Sociology of Work Institute (SWOP) and the South African Labour Bulletin (SALB). The seminars are aimed at stimulating discussion, debate and sharing ideas on contemporary issues from a workers’ education perspective. Topics for 2011:
- Prospects for the class of 2010 - Labour's response to the ongoing crisis in schooling and skills
- SAs Economic Policies and the Global Economic Crisis - A critical perspective and response from labour to concerns about the high cost of food, electricity and transport.
- Race and class in the South African as well as global context: What lessons can be drawn by the working class?
- Climate change and global warming: what are the immediate challenges for South Africa and how should labour respond to COP17?
- The Developmental State and its relation to Gender struggles: A view from labour on the 16 Days of Activism.
